An Early Reveal for the Volkswagen ID Vizzion
When they visit their local Volkswagen dealers, Perth drivers will find many new models to admire. Around this time every year, we look forward to even more VW innovations at the Geneva Motor Show. This year Volkswagen has decided to give the car loving public an early treat with a pre show preview of the new VW ID Vizzion concept car. Let’s take a look at this exciting new car and what it may have to offer if it goes into full production.
The ID Vizzion Revealed
The VW ID Vizzion concept took an early bow ahead of its scheduled reveal at the Geneva Motor Show next month. It’s a big sedan car that has modern, fashionable lines and an attractive sloping roof. As you would expect it’s packed to the gills with now technology and is billed as a fully automated premium class saloon car.
The Onboard Technology
The ID Vizzion has a digital chauffeur onboard to control the car whilst driving. The interior has no steering wheel or pedals, and this makes it a level 5 concept car. The person “driving” the car interacts with the control system via a virtual assistant. This achieved by using vocal commands and gestures to direct controls for functions, such as navigation, infotainment, and climate controls.
Under the Bonnet
This Vizzion concept car is powered by a 111kW lithium ion battery bank located under the floor of the cabin. The battery feeds into an electric motor to provide 225kW of available power output. Volkswagen claims that a top speed of 180 km/hr is possible and that the car will have a range of 665 km on a full charge. Thanks to the lack of physical controls and the location of the powerplant, the cabin has plenty of space.
The All Electric ID Series
When the Vizzion officially debuts it will be the fourth release in the all electric ID series. In the next few years when they visit their Volkswagen dealership, Perth based drivers are unlikely to see the Vizzion. Volkswagen is planning to release 20 all electric vehicles by 2025, starting with the ID, then the ID Crozz, followed by an ID Buzz van. More concrete details will be available after the Geneva Motor Show launch. We don’t know yet how close the ID Vizzion is to an actual production car. However, it’s refreshing to see a genuinely different all electric powered concept that we may be seeing on Australian roads in the future.
